Distribution Reports

Every Linux distribution is slightly different. It may be necessary to install some packages to make the screensaver function properly for your distribution.

If your distribution isn't listed here, we would appreciate it if you let us know how the installation went and what fixes we need to make to our installer.

There also are some screen shots for several different distributions.

Ubuntu 6.06 LTS Gnome Success
Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Gnome Success
Ubuntu 8.10 Gnome Success
KUbuntu 8.04 KDE There are two packages missing from the default installation which are needed by Paper Pilots. If you have trouble, try running the following command in a terminal: 
sudo aptitude install python-gtk2 kscreensaver-xsavers
XUbuntu 8.04 XFCE Success
You may have to configure gnome-screensaver (look at post #9).
openSUSE 11.0 Gnome Success
openSUSE 11.0 KDE Success
Fedora Core 9.0 Gnome Success
Fedora Core 9.0 KDE kxsrun is missing from the base distribution. You can fix this by running the following command in a terminal (you will need to be root to run yum). 
yum install kdeartwork-kxs

If you installed Paper Pilots before installing the xscreensaver support, then you'll either have to re-install (uninstall first), or make a link for the binary 

cd /usr/libexec/xscreensaver
ln -s /usr/local/share/paperpilots/paperpilots .
Mandriva One 2008 Spring Gnome Success
Mandriva One 2008 Spring KDE Mandriva KDE is missing kxsrun on the CD installation (which is needed). You can install this by running the following command in a terminal (you will need to be root to run urpmi). 
urpmi kdeartwork-screensavers
Sabayon 3.5 Gnome Success
Sabayon 3.5 Fluxbox Success
Need to be running xscreensaver or gnome-screensaver.
